Kapit - 3rd Part (Hari Raya AidilAdha)

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha!!!

Ok so, here I am in Kapit and this is my first time ever celebrating Hari Raya far from my family… but hey, surprisingly... it is not that bad…
J

The Mosque that we went for our Solat Raya ^.^

We went to the mosque for the Solat Sunat Hari Raya. It started around 7.50 am (My housemate was kind of late so she speeding without any glance to the person behind her… luckily I know where to go despite being here for about 10 days... ^___^. The solat and the kutbah end around 9.00 am and we begin our journey around Kapit, visiting friends (I went back home first to fetch my phone in 10 minutes flat. Yahoo me!!) and friend’s friend… if that making any sense… J

From left, Sis Syud, Sis Lini, Sis Ashikin, Me,
Sis Shida and Farhana

I went to eleven houses and that was kind of like record breaking since I never went more than three open houses in one day. It was fabulous and everyone was so nice to us~

the house at Kg Baru

There are lots of foods served but what you can find in most houses are:

1)      Lemang

2)      Ketupat

3)      Rendang ayam

4)      Nasi minyak

5)       Kek Lapis (they make their own Kek Lapis like us (The peninsular people) bake our own cookies for Hari Raya)

6)      Nasi Impit

I also given chance to taste one of the signature dishes of Iban People which is call ‘Pangsuh’. The ‘Pangsuh’ that I ate are made of fish instead of chicken. It was quite delicious and the meat was tender and a little bit salty.

Overall, today left me no time to lamenting my sadness and I was really happy that my first experience ‘beraya’ in Kapit turn into such an adventure. Thanks to my housemate for bringing me along with them (and Zura for lending her bike to me)... Guys, I heart you!!

I am so happy today!!!

Ha..ha.. at first glance it kind of look like a P1 school,
right?? but it is not :)

The view from above...bwahahaha.. Oops sorry!!

The canteen

The badminton Court in between 2 buildings

The staircase connecting the building. Seriously, I'm no longer feel my leg nowadays.. (T.T)

There are 24 classes with four classes for each level. They are call Biru (blue), Hijau (green), Merah (Red) and Kuning (Yellow). The average of student for each class is around 30 pupils.

Right now I only took the elective classes, but I am going to teach English next year. Since this is my first school, I hope I can do everything I can to be the best here… J (^___^)V… Hwaiting!!!

Sweet Valley Confidential

Salam! Everyone…

Happy 12th Ramadan

I was bored so I ‘google-ed’ some e-book to cheer me up and guess what I found??

It is another set of SWEET VALLEY series!!!

This is the second book, The Sweet Life - Lies and Omission

It has been eon ago since I started the series, thank to my cousin collections (Thank Cuz Lina and Cuz Linda) and later on Novel Hut bookstore (Before near Aeon Kinta City and now at Ipoh Parade) and I was kind of shock that there is a new installment of the series call Sweet Valley Confidential!!! Talk about surprise…

Though I am an on-off reader of the series (since every book practically deal with same thing about the Wakefield twin with Jessica being totally irresponsible and Elizabeth being the level headed one – well you get the meaning, it kind of getting you down)There are too many surprise that make me laugh out loud! I can’t believe that Jessica will ever get married and here she was, tied down with KID!!! What’s more, Elizabeth has end up with Bruce! I mean that Stuck Up, Snob, SOB,  1Bruce1 plate number Bruce!!! OMG Seriously????? Ha…ha... I always thought that Elizabeth will be with her longest crush cum boyfriend, Todd… Well, I guess that what it is mean by you do not know what life has in it for you…
I kind of intrigued to read this book, but I do not think I can handle this type of genre (you know the popular, accomplish, girly type of book) anymore. Well to those who still follow it, why not give it a try?? <3 <3

p/s: Actually I’m searching for Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s book Call Me Irresistable… Such a shame that I did not buy it last time…. Urghh Why did I buy that Hello, Mr. Perfect (Malay novel) it kind of gross me out to read it since I bought it without realizing that the hero have the same name as my brother... Yuck!!!

P.p/s: My brother seems to think that it is funny that his name is use as the main character’s name... uhh puhleeeze!!!

Shock at Government's Dental Clinic

(I solemnly swear that this is a true story and there is nothing but the truth)

Assalamualaikum….
Wow, I daresay this is an improvement. To be writing for two days in a row!!! Ha..Ha...

I don’t think there is anyone in this world that is not afraid to meet the dentist! I mean my mom confessed to me that she hates having toothache the most (is it possible for it to be worse than delivering a baby???) Anyway, to my roommate and compartments’ mates, you lot might remember right, how much I whine and whine cause I’m having a severe toothache during the exam period but too scaredy-cat to pluck the tooth out? (The ache was so severe that once it stated it wouldn’t stop!)  Anyway, I’m safely home and decided to meet the dentist, but I delayed it until this week. I confide my mom and I said to her that I wish that my teeth can be save and instead of pulling it out maybe I just need to go for a treatment (filling). As far as I know the treatment are far more expensive (My mom said that it is okay for her to pay for the treatment but I just can’t bring myself to do it) so I decided to do the deed at the government’s dental clinic.

My mom joked and asked me if I want her to accompany me to the clinic. I just scoffed and asked her whether she still think that I was a small child. Anyway, I went to the clinic around 11 A.M, and this is how it goes:

Me                  : Assalamualaikum, Emm… can I do filling treatment today?
Misi (Nurse) : I’m sorry but today are reserved for the patient with appointment. You can come
Tomorrow because it is an open day
Me                  : Oh… Ok. The counter is going to open from?
Misi (Nurse): We are going to open from 8 A.M.

So I went back with a heavy heart (hey, I took a lot of courage to go there) I told everything to my mom and she said that I have to be there by 7.30 A.M and I was like urgh... that’s too early! So on the next morning I arrived at the clinic 8 A.M sharp. After I parked, I went to the second floor and to my alarm, there are already too many people waiting for their turn… I was like, OMG since when did they waited for the counter to open????” I picked my number and it was 2017 (Okay don’t panic… it’s mean that I’m the 17th person for that day). Surprisingly the majority of the patients are Chinese! (I’m not prejudiced but I thought they prefer a private establishment).

I waited and waited (I should have brought my new novel), after about an hour (and being tortured by Nabil who tried to act like Ne-Yo or Taeyang – No offense to Nabils’ fans) my number is been called. I went to the surgery room 2. After the procedures and blah...blah… she (Yes, it is a woman – freshly graduates I guess, she even wears heel! Man, does it not hurt your feet to be standing all days???)asked me several questions:

Dentist   :  During what time do you get the ache?
Me          : Pardon?
Dentist   : Is it in the morning or in the evening?
Me          : It depend, but once it got hurt, I’m suffering from it non-stop. I can prevent it

                 by doing filling, right?

Dentist   : If it is like that, the tooth may need to be pulled out.
Me          : *Gulp* ehh??? Which one of it?

The dentist begin a set of knocking the tooth while asking me to tell her which one that hurt the most and based on that she conclude that the third molar/wisdom tooth (which is really on the very back of my teeth) are going to be sacrificed. OMG, it’s going to be hurt (I speak from experience, even though it was done by my favorite dentist (he is not doing it anymore), it still hurt a bit) and I hate it, I tried to smile and asked her:

Me          : About my other tooth, it is okay for it to undergone the filling treatment?
Dentist   : Yes, I will set up an appointment for you but for now, I’m going to inject this
anesthesia, if it is hurting you, you can raise your hand.

This part is one of part that I hate the most. Sometime it hurt and sometime it is not. the only thing left for me to do is to do some zikr’, as she inject I began to zikr’ (in my heart of course - La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, yoohi wa yoomitu,  wa la haula wa la quwwata illa billahil azeem.) and thanks to Allah S.A.W I did not feel any pain! After two injections she asked me to wait outside for the numb drug to take effect. I continued to zikr’ and pray to Allah S.W.T that everything is going to be okay. After a while she called me in, she asked me whether I feel numb, but I said I just feel a little bit of it, so she administered another injection.

The kind dentist told me to raise my hand if I feel any pain, I just nodded and smile but my heart feel like it going to burst any minute, I continue to zikr as the dentist begin to grind, plague, push my teeth and after a while, *Plop* out it goes……

EHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Why did I not feel anything at all??????????????????? I mean, it doesn’t hurt or anything!!!!!!!!!! And I’m telling you, no it is not because I feel numb. Why? Well I have this experience where I feel numb for half of my face but it still hurt like hell when the dentist pull it out, but not this time. I just sit there, feeling nothing (I assured you that my teeth are not rocking or in the verge of falling) and out the teeth goes. I was so shocked that I was in dazed when the assistant give me the cotton and the pills (painkiller). I went outside, paid one ringgit (for the services) gets into the car and off I go. I mean it is so anticlimax!!!!

Anyway, I’m really happy that the operation goes without a hitch. I am very thankful to Allah for letting me have this experience… Really a shock… but in a good way. And to that kind dentist, sorry that I didn’t catch your name but I’m really happy having you that day. I hope during the filling treatment, it is going to be the same… hopefully…
